Full immersion in the fibres and yarns world, with weekly frequency which enables students:

  • to learn their technical and physical characteristics
  • estimate their weight
  • their cloth handle and their quality

in order to choose the suitable material for one’s own collection as a result of a creative expression.

The knowledge of materials used in a fashion collection is fundamental for all professionals, in order to understand the design and manufacturing process.
Morphological and application properties of fibres and yarns are the cultural background needed by any professional working in the fashion system.

The workshop is open to anyone who’s interested (Majors and Non-Majors).

2 days course – 12 total hours for each workshop

Basic Workshop
2 days course – 12 total hours
Daily schedule of 6 hours: from 9:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Advanced Workshop
2 days course – 12 total hours
Daily schedule of 6 hours: from 9:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Our Faculty consists of highly – qualified professionals, with several years proven experience in Fashion business.
They’re constantly updated on Fashion and Market Trends and New Technologies.

1) EU Citizens and Switzerland Citizens: a copy of Identity Card ; n. 1 digital passport photo; a copy of diploma or self – certification; a copy of Social Security Number (SSN) /Tax Code.
2) NON EU Citizens: a passport copy and a Student Visa; n. 1 digital passport photo; a copy of the Social Security Number (SSN) / Tax Code.

BASIC WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
Lesson 1
Textile fibers classification;
Natural fibers with animal origin: wool; special wool and silk;
Natural fibers with vegetable origin: cotton, linen, hemp;
Classification and identification of the main woollen and silk fabrics.
Lesson 2
Artificial cellulose fibers;
Artificial protein fibers;
Synthetic fibers;
Yarn count;
Classification and identification of the main cotton and linen fabrics.

ADVANCED WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
Lesson 1
Wool spinning;
Cotton spinning;
Patterned fabrics;
Methods and machinery for fabric production;
Lesson 2
Base and derived weaves;
Methods and machinery for knitted – fabric production;
Finishing textile techniques and processes ;
Coloring: dye and print.
