CARIFIA, the Next Fashion School project for sustainability

CARIFIA, Next Fashion School's project for “FASHION SCHOOL FOR DESIGN – DRIVEN SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION” in collaboration with C.L.A.S.S., created by Federica Alessi and Sofia Ricci.

Fashion Educational System Platform Third Sector entity, on the occasion of Fashion Graduate Italia 2022 submitted a project in strategic partnership and with the support of the international eco-hub  C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity, Lifestyle And Sustainable Synergy) dedicated to the fashion school students who took part in the event.

The project “Fashion Schools for design-led sustainable innovation” The students took part in a training programme covering the entire process from the design to the creation of an outfit, following a responsible approach that begins with the design, continues with the selection of sustainable materials supplied by some of the hub’s partner companies, and culminates in a reflection on how to communicate their project.

The students’ creations (co-ordinated by Olivia Spinelli and Camilla Carrara) took centre stage in a special exhibition in a dedicated area for the entire duration of the event.

As part of the project “Fashion Schools for Designer-Driven Sustainable Innovation” C.L.A.S.S. and Fashion Graduate Italy aim to promote an innovative dialogue between fashion and sustainability, focusing on the new generations of designers and the sharing of educational programmes that guide them towards new values.

Federica Alessi and Sofia Ricci have created CARIFIA for Next Fashion School.

CARIFIA It is the combination of certain letters found in the names of the two designers -Federica Alessi and Sofia Ricci – which represent the Next Generation for the FASHION SCHOOLS for DESIGN-DRIVEN SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION project, promoted by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda in collaboration with C.L.A.S.S. and forming part of Fashion Graduate 2022.

It is the name of a virtual planet, set in the Metaverse, which will help the inhabitants of Earth to reprogramme themselves, re-educate themselves and return to living in harmony with nature and the environment; CARIFIA is the place digital in which one learns to love the real planet Earth, so that we may live sustainably and with love for the cradle that gave us life.

Carifia features the warm colours of earthy tones and the blue hues of the sky and water; life here follows a pace suited to people, lived with respect for our surroundings, where balance and stability become essential elements. The outfit is functional and unrestrictive; it protects and facilitates a practical way of life in harmony with the colours of the environment.

Carifia is a tool designed to help and support the Earth.
